I went to the dealership yesterday and came home with a 2007 Barcelona Red Prius with all the bells & whistles except the leather package! There is sooooo much to learn with this baby and I've only scratched the surface. I did get over 50mpg on the trip from the dealership to my home (about 25 miles) and thought that was pretty good as I still don't know all the ins/outs of getting good mileage. I did find that when driving it around town (we have a lot of hills here in town) that it dropped to 48 mpg but even that was OK with me. The dealership "gave" me the Toyota extended wrap-around warranty for $750 that will cover just about everything for 100,000 miles and road-side assistance for 5 years. I hope that was an OK deal (seems to be from what I read). Now, I want to start looking at "add-ons" and know I want the body-side moldings (sure don't want any doors opening into my doors!), the shark-fin antenna, and the mud flaps. Anything else that you might recommend I look into? I thought that before winter (I'm in Connecticut) I would get that under-the-car-metal-thingie to protect the undercarriage. ANything else? Oh, did I mention - I REALLY didn't want a RED car (I've never had one and always "thought" that I hated them. Well, I don't seem to mind "Ruby"s color at all (she has the lighter beige interior that I really like in the summer). I have a neighbor (he's a policeman and also one of those "youngersters" - I'M sure in the "retirement" age group) and he says the car is "so you - snappy and sensible at the same time" so I guess it works. Congrats! And welcome to PriusChat. You may want to consider and Engine Block Heater to help keep the mileage up during your CT winters.
Glad to hear you made the plunge. We added all weather mats to our new Prius and love them. We also added the bumper protector which should help us not nicking the paint like we did on our CRV. We have had our Prius for 2 months now and love everything about it. Enjoy
