Well, if they DO decide to paint them the same color as the artist's pencil happened to be, I'd be forced to buy a new one... by my wife. We already own a purple tandem bicycle.
Colour is cool but they are off the mark with the front end styling. No way is that shape slippery enough. What would be the purpose of the huge air inlets on each side? Brake cooling? I don't think so. The back looks good but that front end will never get through the wind tunnel tests.
Purple People Eaters Plymouth was the first manufacturer that I can recall that offered purple paint for some of their cars. I think it started in the early '70s with the Barracuda and souped up Duster models, and more recently I think purple was offered on the Viper. The first purple painted Plymouths were notorious for their peeling purple paint --- huge patches of the paint would just fall off. In the '90s Volvo had a magenta purple that was pretty nice.
The side and rear styling are fine. The front has a 'snout' and it looks terrible. The current Prius styling is quite clean and for most looks good. I hope that is not the new Prius. Yes, the purple is nice.
