Oh boy, not this again. That guy with the first song is a tool. Do the blind really step out into a street purely based on what they hear, and do they think us drivers are blind too. If someone can show me the statistics on how many people (blind and sighted) are being hit by hybrids while running silent, and its a clear statistic showing a problem then I will acknowledge it.
Statistically, few, if any, babies are hurt annually by playing with razor blades. Based on your argument above, I assume you believe giving babies razor blades to play with is a great idea (until statistics show otherwise)?
The original vehicle in that tune didn't make much noise, either. But the chicks and ducks and geese still got out of the way!
You know, I'm beginning to hate the blind. Well, perhaps I just hate the retarded subset of the blind that believe that the Prius is a killer auto. ... Brad
I thought this was a joke at first. I can't believe this is even an issue. It's just a scam to make hybrids less desirable. Hybrids make noise while in electric mode. To "fix" hybrids so they emit the same level of sound as ICE vehicles would make them obnoxious. You neighbors would lynch you.
I wish this were a joke, but it's not. It's so serious the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration will hold public hearings in Washington, D.C. They have asked for public comment and you can give it to them online. See my comment in this thread. The quiet car you save may be your own.
No, but I don't think it's a great idea to give children or blind people Hybrid or quiet cars either but I see no reason to ban either.
