Hey guys, I know this is my first post. But i am in a bind! I have a WRX which is being worked on. Dilemna. I have 16x 6.5 inch wrx wheels that i need to swap with a friend who lives in sacramento(100 miles away) I am trading them for 17x7.5 5x100 Sti wheels that have 235 size tires on them. The car is full of people and i have no way of transporting the rims inside. Would i be able to mount the Wrx wheels on my prius, drive 100 miles, trade for sti wheels, remount them and drive back safely? THanks!
make sure the wheels are hubcentric and have the correct offset...as far as rubbing, with a full car load it will most likely rub
Hi rikshaman, welcome to PriusChat! :welcome: I don't know enough about WRX wheel offsets to give you a decent answer. I do know that 235s will clobber your milage. And people have read your message.
Thanks Bill! Yeah ive been loving my prius in these last few months! 91 octane requirement wrx FTL. i know my mileage will suffer, but i plan on only shuttling these wheels back home, and putting the stockers back on the prius. While my wrx has been down i have been taking the prius on wrx club drives and whatnot. It handles quite well with VSC turned off
you should be fine. you have a really large offset with those new tires. they will stick out farther... like mine.. and like the 18's they sell in L.A. there is 1 dilemma... they have to be 40 hight ratio or your speedo will clock wrong. if it's over 50, they may not fit clear in the front. i would install a front tire first, to make sure it clears properly. Tire size calculator and Wheel Offset Calculator
btw.. i may be wrong.. if they stick out too far, your rears will not clear... although mine are fine. there is a lot of room in there.
