I've a 2005 Prius, and my Smart Entry buzzer quit a few days ago. When I open/close doors (or try to do so while a fob is inside or a door is ajar), I do not get any beeps (althogh the locks work and the lights flash). Where is that buzzer / chirper? Is it a small black box with two wires sticking out that is sitting right in front of the front driver side wheel behind the bumper cover? Do I have to buy a replacement from the dealer, or will some aftermarket one work? If anyone has an idea, please, help! - Igor
its located on drivers side above the wheel behind bumper, its probably good maybe water got into it. You can buy one at toyota, its basically the same chirper used on lexus. Junkyards might have it Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. it just plugs in, but i suggest you check if water went inside the hole on the buzzer, then it would drone out the noise. It happened to me since my prius was salvaged, all u do is shake it out plug it in and try it. directly from dealer: Auto Parts People
Thanks! Just ordered one! If this box is the buzzer, then I am pretty sure what made it die. It was no water damage. Someone had hit my Prius while it was parked and made a big dent on that side of the bumper and the body above the bumper. (They just ran away.) But that did not kill the buzzer. What made it die was some "handyman" who stopped us on the street and offered to repair the damage for very cheap. That he did, but in the process he said that some part that was holding the bumper to the metal was broken, but he just put a metal screw in to hold them together, so it is all ok now. Right. You can figure where he stuck the screw -- right through that buzzer box!
