Does anyone have a link to what is covered by Toyota's Platinum Extended Warranty? Conversely maybe a link to what is not covered?:der:
Here's a link to what is expressly covered. Note that you have to use the drop down menu to see the individual components of different particular systems and parts of the car (e.g., on the drop down menu, change from the air conditioning/heating system to the suspension system to see the individual suspension components covered): Toyota Financial Services: Home And below is a link and list of what is expressly excluded. The Toyota Financial Services website has this to say about the Platinum Plan and its excluded components: "Note: Platinum protection covers virtually all component groups on new vehicles. If your new vehicle's component does not appear on our List of Excluded Components , it is covered by Platinum protection." "List of Excluded Components Accessory Drive Belts Batteries Body Panels Brake Linings, Pads and Shoes Bumpers Carpet Chrome Clutch Friction Disk and Pressure Plate Dash Cover and Pad Door Trim, Handles and Fabric Filters Fluids Glass (including Windshield) Headliner Heating Hoses, Lines and Tubes Hinges Hybrid System Main Relays Hybrid Vehicle Battery Hybrid Vehicle Battery Module/Pack Hoses Interior and Exterior Trim Moldings, including but not limited to, Cup Holders, Ashtrays, Covers, and Vents Lamps Light Bulbs Nuts, Bolts, Clips, Retainers and Fasteners Paint Rotors and Drums Rust and Corrosion Damage Seat Covers Service Plug Shiny Metals Spark Plugs Structural Framework and Wells Tires Vacuum Hoses, Lines and Tubes Weather Stripping Wheels and Rims Windshield Wiper Blades (Rubber Component)"
No problem. You'll see that there are discrepancies. For instance, struts are not listed among the specific components expressly covered. But they also are not listed among the specific components expressly excluded either. So if I have the extended warranty and my struts go bad, I'm going to argue to the dealer that the extended warranty says that if it's not specifically excluded, it's covered. You'll also see other vague stuff. For instance, among the express exclusions are door handles. But what if it's the hatch handle that's broken? The "hatch assembly" is expressly included -- and doesn't hatch assembly include the hatch handle? If you go to any of the Toyota parts sites, I think you'll see the hatch handle among the parts of the hatch assembly. Bottom line: If you ever need warranty or extended warranty work, be prepared to research the issue and argue with your dealer.
I have A 2010 prius,I purchased the platinum extended warranty for $2500 up to 125,000 mileage, now my struts are going bad,are they covered ????
