OK, I just removed my trim rings. I think it looks better without them. So my question is: What is the purpose of the trim rings other than looks?
Probably protects the real thing against brushing against curbs and other things at the side of the car during parking, etc.
I bought these from a place called 'HubcapMike.com' He calls them 'racing disks', though the term I've heard most is 'baby moons.' They were common in the 50s on custom cars, but they look kinda futuristic to me.
I sideswiped a curb last week and got some nasty dings into the rim. If I had the trim ring on that wheel, I suspect it would have been trashed pretty badly. Mine have moon disks attached to them for car shows.
