I have 375 miles on my Prius and still haven't had to fuel up yet. I love it so far.But I don't know what octane to use when I do someday have to stop for gas.lol.Found some scratches on the front bumper and a crack in it,I brought it to the dealers attention and they are replacing it this week.Other than that can't find any other problems. It's a silver beauty. Hello, I'm new to this forum but I am an old school Prius owner, Oct. 2000. I have used nothing but 87 octane, all brands, all type of stations, no spoiling the car whatsoever gas wise. No problems at all from using 87 octane. Good luck.
guys we are now in the 21st century. we dont have carbs, points stuff like that. in the real world there is nothing to adjust to take "advantage" of high test. car is designed for 87 octane anything else is NOT good for it and will, if anything, detract from performance.its kinda like you are supposed to use about 3.75 qts of oil 4qts would not help. there is NO advantage. thus endeth the soapbox. ill leave it to dan, doc and john to give the technicalside of it.
Just use a good grade at 87 octane (this is what is recommended in NCF ). A Prius has been tried on the high test and no reason was found to spend the extra for something not needed. So save your $$$ for that new accessary you are eyeing,
