hey everybody!!! you may have read previous posts discussing a short film i'm directing in which the main character is desperately trying to get a new Prius. i am going to submit this to film festivals, but in order to submit to a particular festival, i need (just in case) a clearance/permission from Toyota to use the Prius in the film. if anybody is a toyota employee or might be able to put me in touch with their Product Placement or similar department in order to get permission i would be eternally grateful! you can e-mail me directly at [email protected] i'm making phone calls myself, but i wanted to use all my resources. thanks much! joel
Re: need Toyota contact to clear usage of Prius in my short well, i'm no lawyer, but since my film is all about the Prius, i'd rather be safe than sorry. i was able to contact Toyota yesterday and they have cleared my film though, so my worries are over!
unless you want Toyota dictating what you say in the film, i wouldnt. besides most of the times, cars are donated for use in films (or borrowed if expensive) just for the exposure. if you are talking about the Prius in particular, i doubt if Toyota would agree to anything that implies that a Prius is hard to get. that is about the last thing they would agree to i would suspect.

Re: need Toyota contact to clear usage of Prius in my short i will announce in this forum when the film is on amazon.com, although you won't be able to link directly to it i'm afraid. after the contest is over, i will put the film up on my own website. i submitted the script and a link to Toyota where they could see the finished film, and within an hour i heard back that they were happy to approve. they had no issues with my film. it has not been edited or changed in any way to appease them. i must actually disagree about the hard to get issue. the harder something is to get, the more we all want it, right? hope you all will see the film soon! thanks again for all the ideas. Re: need Toyota contact to clear usage of Prius in my short My fiance made a short for Taco Bell without permission.... when they found out they were quite pleased actually. We have our own Prius flick in the works along with some others. Good Luck!
