Hey All - My wife and I are new Prius owners. We still own our 2006 Rav4 which has come to save our day during this nasty winter season. After several months of our inquiry for a Prius, Westbury Toyota finally called to let me know they have a Prius in stock. On January 31st, we walked out of the dearship with a 2009 Prius Package #3 for $25,149 (before taxes). We figured this a great vehicle for the other three seasons. I never thought I would say this, but I am looking forward to traffic while driving into Manhattan. Thanks to all that have contributed to this site. Lots of great info.
Congratulations!! You will love it. It may seem that it doesn't zoom ahead, but enjoy the car at a slow speed.
+1. I now look forward to traffic congestion also. MPG goes sky high and that Prius feeling never gets old.
Question - how does one know if the dealer did a pre-delivery inspection? The reason I ask is because the plastic film coverings are still intact and I noticed that the steering is not aligned. Looks like I have to turn a bit to the right to make the car go straight.
The misalignment off the boat is a very common problem. Most frequently, it's a "pulls to the left/have to turn the steering wheel slightly right" thing. That's why the alignment is expressly warrantied for 12 months/20,000 miles. If I were you, I'd bring it back to the dealer sometime. Ask for a four wheel alignment, a print out of the alignment and a centering of the steering wheel if necessary --- all under the warranty.
Thanks and the Toyota service shop did what they had to do and cost nothing since it was under warranty. They even included the alignment report and left it on the passenger seat. The funny thing is that, the service invoice included a service history of the vehicle. The pre-delivery inspection was dated three days after I accepted the car. Maybe they entered this info at a later time. Anyhow, all is good and looking forward in modifying or placing additional pieces of equipment to the car. Thanks again!
