Our 05 (VSC, level lights, smart key) has 50,000 mi and we're thinking of replacing it if the price is right. There is no urgency since we've had Toyota trucks and cars until over 250,000 mi with no problems.... the Pri could do the same we think.

An Em exchange with the local dealer indicates a trade in (Email) of $9000 to 11000 -- first rate shape and all maintenance records. That range was my intuitive SWAG but is a lot less than we HEARD just 6-8 months ago during the hi-gas$daze. Normally we would do a private sale to avoid the dealer rip off.

What's a decent lo blue (trade in) and hi blue price(retail) for the 05 now.

I've asked for an out-the-door-quote for an 09 (with no trade in) with at least VSC.

We expect dealers to be more pressured later and there is always the 2010's. We can wait.

    Any insight would be welcome.

Well first off I would say really figure out if you prefer the 09 or 2010. If you decide to go with the 09, you could wait til near the end of the model year, after 2010's are on the lot, and maybe get a better deal.

Why trade your 05 for a 09, it is the same car. As you said 50K miles are still young for a Toyota, unless you want to breath a new car's smell and want to pay for it.
I will go for the 2010 if money is not a concern.

The auto parts stores and even Wal Mart have "new car spray" for a couple of dollars a bottle..
