That must be why I read of this issue so much, but even attempting to duplicate it - I cannot. I have an '08, and the traction control is fantastic. For example, at a dead stop at an intersection with several of inches of snow/crud on the road, you can just turn the wheel and absolutely MASH the gas. The Prius responds by handily making the 90 degree turn at a safe speed as if you're on dry pavement. Okay, there is hint of skipping around, but the point is that the car goes right where you point it at a safe speed - even with my foot bottoming out the accelerator! Sometimes I have to take a step back. I often try to control the car in such situations, but I've found it best to let the software do the job. ... Brad
Snow? I can remember putting a board on the front of my pickup and plowing snow with a dozen guys in the back end. When the truck got stuck the guys got out and I backed up. Shovel a bit and return guys to back end. Repeat until the road is cleared. With my Prius the smart move is to wait for the plows.
