My tires on my 04 prius are shot, I was considering hydroedges but they are expensive so I looked in CR and seen that the Falken tires were half the price, so I wanted to know if anyone has tried the Falken tires?
We have these tires mounted on 16" aftermarket rims for our Prius. Great tire. Much better grip in all wet and dry conditions. We got rid of the stock Goodyears because of their poor grip in wet conditions. A matter of safety if you ask me. We use the stock rims for dedicated snow tires now. Hope that helps.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(pino\";p=\"83798)</div> Have you noticed any drop in fuel economy using this tire? The Falkens are not listed as being a low-rolling-resistance tire (as is standard equipment on the Prius). Independant low rolling resistance test (PDF download). www.greenseal.org/cgrs/tire_rollingresistance.pdf The Michelin Hydroedge seems be be a better deal if you look at cost per mile compared to the Falken. Its performance is better across the board, sometimes a lot better.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Gen2\";p=\"83994)</div> As far as I/we can tell, there is no difference. But I must confess: My wife (the main Prius driver) drives the car as per Toyota philosophy, i.e. "just drive it like a normal car", so she has never attained any freakishly high mileage. I guess you could say that mileage has never been the main focus of my wife's driving attention. Because of the Falkens, however, she does enjoy being able to drive without the traction control or ABS interfering during rainy/damp conditions. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
