hey guys. im looking to buy a used prius. i found a 2005 model for $11.2k. It has a little under 68k miles on it. How does that sound? $12,160.20 after all the fees. I think it's a pretty basic model. Doesn't have the nav system, does have the screen. I didn't want to get one with so many miles, because i drive a ton, about 3000 miles a month. I want it to last a long time. Another question I do have is about ipod integration. Looks like it doesn't have an auxillary input. On my currrent corolla, I had to buy a new CD deck with an aux input. I don't want to do that with the prius. What's the best option for plugging it in directly? I don't want to use an fm transmitter.
It sounds about $0.20 too high to me! That's probably a pretty fair price from what I understand about the current market. Not sure exactly what package you're looking at though...does it have VSC? iPod integration options are bit limited for the pre-'06 Prius. There are some DICE units that work fairly well but require a little dash disassembly to install. Since you don't have NAV it should work fine.
Here's the DICE that Evan is referring to: PriusChat Shop : DICE iPod Car Integration Unit [i-Toyota-R] - $143.95 It has iPod integration and also includes an AUX port in case you ever want to plug a non-iPod product into the stereo system.
If you search the forum (use the google search) you can find threads about adding an AUX port if you don't have one like here: http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/51699-diy-aux-in-base-prii-under-100-a.html
Thanks for the replies everyone. Pretty sure it doesn't have a tape deck. I'm almost positive it's the base model with no packages since it doesn't have the GPS and smart key system. I'll check out that DICE unit. Installation seems pretty complicated. There's this one link listed in the installation pdf that doesn't seem to work. Looks like it has crucial info.
