Here is the link I came across from a dealer's webpage in Oregon. States May 18th is the day they will be ready for sales. Not sure if it is correct but check it out and let me know what you think. The all New 2010 Toyota Prius ( More Information For You) Excerpt: We are getting ready to welcome Toyota's third generation Prius. It will be here May 18,2009. It is something that past Prius owners have been waiting on for a long time
Perhaps....you can persuade the dealer's management (with few bottles of fine wine) to install a webcam at the location where the carrier will be unloading the first Prii. Like watching a relative's baby being delivered - "natural" delivery... And if I recall a typical semi carrier can hold 8 cars. An "OctoTruck"? Or if you're a truly dedicated P.C. member, video the delivery yourself and upload here. To reimburse you for your time...pay-per-view? OK - maybe ask a rep there to take some digital pics. Guess Portland is the first port stop. Does anyone know where the first batch 'off the boat' in the U.S. will be delivered?
I would assume Portland and surrounding areas, followed by Seattle and areas, California, so on and so on.
We've been told the first cars will arrive at dealers in the 3rd week of May - second week of June timeframe, so May 18 in OR would be consistent with that (since the west coast boats make their first stops on Portland, I believe). Then they stop in Benicia, CA, which is an hour from my house, so I would hope to see them in bay area dealers that week as well.
Still nothing popping up on dealer daily. If a car was going to hit the dealership in 2 weeks, it should be showing up by now. Not saying it won't, just that I can't see it yet.
We called and asked how he knew that he'd have them on the 18th--he said that a "Toyota Dealer Rep" told him they'd be there then. When we asked if they were showing up in the Dealer Daily yet, he got defensive and said no--were we a dealer?
Dealer Daily is our communication with Toyota. It is how we know what cars are coming in, what cars are at what dealers (for dealer trading), current and past incentives, etc. Basically, everything within the toyota world happens through Dealer Daily.
