On my 2001 Echo I have an interior switch to lock/unlock the doors. I saw an accessory to do this. Does anyone know if there is such a button/switch on the 2010 Prius? If not, the fob has it, right?

    Thanks,

    Rich N.

Some Japanese imports have no separate lock button but instead lock all the doors when you lock the driver's door from inside (and unlock all when you unlock the driver's door). Not sure if this is the case with the new Prius, however.

New Prius has an interior lock/unlock button.

Also worth noting, There is an auto lock, unlock feature that is dealer customizable. By default, the car will lock when taken out of park, and will unlock when placed into park. Optionally, you can enable all doors unlock when the driver's door is unlocked/opened, or have speed sensitive door locking. You can also have this "feature" entirely disabled.

There is no door lock button on the 2010?. Our current cars have one on each frt door and the rear hatch.
That would require finding the key fob to lock the car on the outside.
If true that and no 3 door sks on the pkg 3, that we want, would make our current cars much more user friendly.
    Thanx,
    Carl

You might want to read the previous posts before answering. HTMLspinnr already answered this one conclusively.

    Actually my response was interior.

For exterior, depending on which SKS system, there are little "lines" on the door handle which are your lock button(s). For the hatch, there's a button to the right of the release button which is the lock button for 3 door SKS systems.

See photo - note the lines at the left of the handle:

This is same as the SKS on Vensa.
If you want to see how it works, you may visit your dealer and check the Venza out.

Speaking of the Venza (which handles look just like 2010 Prius doorhandles) ... They have a chromed handle on certain models. Do you think they'd be available on a Prius (or orderable as an aftermarket part?) Any idea on cost?

My 2008 Honda Civic Si had a similiar system. It would lock the doors once you git 10mph and would unlock all the doors when the key shut off. I believe it had other settings as well. I really liked that setup as all the doors would unlock. Our 2009 Honda Fit Sport will only unlock the drivers door and then you have to push the interior unlock button. But only the drivers door has the button so the passengers have to manually fiddle with the lock. I will have to have the dealer set the car up so it will lock and unlock all the doors.
    Thanks. :)

The procedure is outlined in the owner's manual if you change your mind on how you want it to activate.

Great. I don't want a car to automatically unlock any doors based on stopping or parking. In shady sections of town, that is a security violation. I'll decide which doors to unlock, and when.

Fortunately one of the options is to unlock all doors when the driver's door is opened. This may work well in your case.

Thanks it's good to know it's possible to do it myself. The Honda procedure is a real pain to do.

As far as security, I guess it depends on where you live. In my area many people don't even lock their front door or bother to lock their cars. My neighbor who is a farmer just leaves his keys in his Vans ignition. It's a New full size Van.
He did the same thing on the old van. For me unlocking all the doors is a plus.
If I lived or drove in dangerous areas I'd probably disable it.

It isn't a matter of where I live, or the typical places visited. A few worst-case places visited are the determining factor.
