Several days ago, I received a 'phone call from EPA, inquiring if I was interested in having my car tested. The test would take 24 hours and they would pay me $125 for the test. I live in the Kansas City area and KC is the 1st city to have such testing. I took the car to them and they loaded a box of equipment weighing about 100 pounds, along with 2 large batteries in the back. They attached a bike rack to the back of the car with a lot of pipes, tubes, valves and guages and a large flexible pipe to my exhaust. The technicial said he drove the car for a short spin and it averaged 67.7 mpg with NO emissions. Today I returned for removal of the equipment and he told me that he had another Prius after mine and it got only 51 mpg on his test drive with very few emissions. I regret not getting some photos of the car with all the 'stuff' on the back. I want to get the overall results of the project and when available, will post the address of the results.
I now have photo of the equipment on rear of car. During the test, miles driven were 41.468, fuel consumed 0.627 gal and fues economy was 66.188.
