Please would someone post the names of some reliable online stores to purchase genuine Toyota engine air filters and cabin air filters for the 2006 Prius as well as for the 2007 Matrix. I know various names have been mentioned in the past, but I'd really appreciate seeing the names in one place so that I can do some comparison shopping. I don't remember where I purchased mine last time.
Toyota Scion Parts Accessories Discounted Prices - Metrotpn is where I have gotten air (engine and cabin) and oil filters from - good prices and reasonable shipping.
if you don't mind switching to a non Toyota filter element, you could try purolator. They make quality filters. the K&N uses oil, and this oil could over time get on the MAF, plus they are expensive..and don't filter aswell as Toyota or purolator filters. Any pepboys or Checker should carry the purolator, for like 12 bucks.
I buy my air filters from metrotpn as well. Great service, good prices for OEM. For oil filters, I switched to K&N from Autozone/Checker as they have the 1" nut on the bottom. I just keep a small 1" wrench with my oil change kit and it's off in a second. No fuss. The cap wrenches work OK most of the time, but I've had them fail on other cars. The Prius doesn't have room to get a strap wrench on it, so I'm being cautious. And K&N oil filters have a good rep. They are the same inside as the Bosch Premium that get good reviews online.
Autozone is about the same price or cheaper. Just did a search today. If someone has a site that is cheaper with shipping than utozone for engine air filters, please post.
I got a FRAM air filter (CA10159) from local parts store(Kragen) for about $18. Sometimes that's a better deal, after you pay shipping from on-line purchase.
Is this the $7 filter? Also are the 2008 and 2009 Touring engine air filters the same? AIR FILTER TOYOTA PRIUS 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009:eBay Motors (item 270396044720 end time Jun-22-09 15:20:48 PDT)
All your aftermarket air filters for Toyota/Honda apps - doesn't matter if its in a Fram/Purolator/Wix/Beck-Arnley box will mostly be made in China or Korea, and on occasion in North America. I still prefer the Denso OEM ones here - but if a aftermarket filter has the 2-layer paper and equal or more pleats as OEM I'll use that too. If you have a Kragen or O'Rielly's nearby, ask for a Pentius filter - they're cheaper than the Frams and made a little better, and supposedly made by a OEM supplier to Hyundai/Kia. Wal-Mart(yes I know) tends to have the best pricing on Frams.
i just bought a Pentius filter from Kragen for $13.79. Looks just like the OEM filter and fits the airbox perfectly. Hope it works as well too!
