Here are my additions to my 2009 Prius. I painted the emblems and grill black. Added a VaisTech SL2Vi and I cut the speed sensor wires. Removed all the emblems from the back. So, the story with the parking brake pin was an absolute nightmare. I put the provided pin in with the wire attached and it got stuck. So I accidently pulled out the wire and the pin was stuck in. I had a crazy time getting the pin out but eventually I did. So, I call Vais tech and ask them what to do and they said to put the pin in through the front. well I was going to try that but it was too small. I wanted to make the hole a little bigger and thought a toothpick was a good idea to stretch it out a little. BAD IDEA!!! I got the toothpick stuck and spent about 2 hours hammering that out. End of story - everything worked out fine and it all works now!!! LOVE IT!!! I can watch videos while I'm driving and use my nav anytime I want. PERFECT!!! Perfect for you maybe, but horrendous to everyone else around you... why on earth would you want to watch videos while you're driving, and are you aware that this makes you an absolute candidate for a Darwin award?
Kinda like the black emblem look on the white. The movie on the MFD is Dumb and Dumber? and the car next to the Prius is......not a Highlander Hybrid is it?
I could not agree more... awful idea... I do not get the whole "modding" trend... I like my 2006 barcelona red just the way it was when it rolled off the assembly line... the black on white does look alright though, but the movies on the MFD idea is an accident waiting to happen...
Nice mods! The movie is Cars... not sure about the car next to yours... looks like the new Lexus Hybrid or an Infiniti FX? ... hmmm.
sdtundra is right! it is dumb and dumber and it is a highlander hybrid! Nice! quick note about the movies. I wanted this in my car for when I have a break at the hospital while on rotations and can't really sleep and so my gf can watch in the car. So I go out to the prius and catch up on some movies. The reason I did the speed sensor was to use the navigation while driving. I did say i was going to watch them while driving. My girl might, but I will not be. Just an FYI. I am a 5 year MSF instructor so I know a little bit about safety. I would be pissed if I saw someone watching a movie by themselves in a car while on my motorcycle. Thanks, Christian
Trying to watch videos while you're driving is illegal in most states. Not only that it's STUPID DANGEROUS IDIOTIC I could go on, but you get the picture. Don't be that idiot. Don't attempt to watch videos while you're driving. Don't even try to play videos for your passengers on the MFD while you're driving. It's too visible and potentially distracting.
I've had video systems in my cars since the days of goose-neck TV stands and VCRs (early 1990s) and I will advice you to ever turn it on while you are driving. Period! You say you will not watch the video but during movies you particularly enjoy you will start stealing glances at the screen or even lingering longer and that is indeed dangerous. I've almost crashed twice due to inattention (once in the Prius) even though I know better. The girlfriend wanted to watch a movie during a long road trip and I almost hurt us both because I couldn't stop myself from watching. Sounds like a self control issue but I guarantee everyone is susceptible. I'm not flaming you here, just giving warning from someone with ample experience with video systems in vehicles.
Thanks for all the responses. I have decided to take out the parking brake pin so no more movies while driving. My girl said if she wants to watch them she will just look at the ipod and watch it on there with surround sound. That way we are both safe. What do you think about the other mods?
