I drove a 2006 Prius (30K miles) today and I am quite interested in buying it. It appears to be in excellent condition and drives very well. Unfortunately, the used car dealer did not have the owner's manual and had no "package/options" info. From what I can tell it has one of the nicer packages because it has a back-up camera, bluetooth and JBL stereo. Although it has a "map" button on the steering wheel, it does not appear to have a navigation system. If the "map" button does not mean the car has a nav system, does it mean something else (or nothing)? Any thoughts as to what options package the car has would be appreciated as would the pros/cons of buying a 2006 Prius. I've been a Toyota owner for years, but this would be my first Prius. Thanks! Gary
I can't see why there map button would be there and it doesn't have nav unless someone swapped steering wheels or controls. I've seen a very stripped down 07 Prius and it had a lot fewer buttons on the steering wheel. How many buttons are to the left and right of the MFD? Are there Map and Dest buttons? Nav equipped ones will also have a DVD drive under the driver's seat. You can eject the DVD if you look under the seat while in the back. (My package has everything except leather.)
Hi there I just sold my 2006 for a 2010 you will love it .I thought it was a very dependable car and mine gave me no headaches at all . Now about the map button If you have the back up camera , the map button and bluetooth it sound like a nav system .I don't think they just put out a back up cameras with out nav& bluetooth . What buttons are on the steering wheel? If there is no map maybe the disc is gone or disconnected this one I'm not sure of . Sounds like a package 5 I think Wouldn't toyota be able to help on line to find an owners manual ? There is a lot of info on this site for the car so most of you questions can find answers here .Just check the search and archives Good luck with the car
I don't believe your last statement is correct. See http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/16803-prius-packages.html. I have package NL. edit: https://priuschat.com/forums/knowle...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html is a better post.
Here's the 2006 Prius eBrochure: 06_prius.pdf It lists all the Standard Equipment, as well as the optional equipment for each Option Package #.
Thanks to those who replied. I looked at some past sales on eBay this am and sure enough...package 5 does not give you nav, but it does give you a map button on the steering wheel...perhaps in case you want to add nav later. Anyway, I still think I'm getting a good deal on a great car! Gary
My 2006 had Nav and Blue tooth Pkg 2006 pk5 had everthing but leather just found my old 2006 brouchure . I would think if there is a button on the sterring wheel it was a factory install. Maybe I'm wrong . Never saw this situation before . Good luck
If you don't mind sharing, what did you pay for your 06 Prius? We've ordered a 2010 and will be trading in the 2006 (35K miles; excellent condition) if we don't sell it before the new one arrives. We're trying to figure out a fair price. Sounds like the same package as ours. Kim and Jim
We haven't finalized the deal, but I'll probably be able to buy it for a little under $16K. I've done a LOT of looking the last 3-4 weeks and I am convinced that $16K is a good deal. A Toyota dealer will offer you $2,500 - $3,000 less than what you can get for your car, especially if it's in excellent condition.
Kim & Jim, We will be back in Milwaukee in just over 2 weeks and will be looking at new 2009s, 2010s and used Prii. Any guess as to when your new car will arrive? Are you advertising the 2006 yet? If so, where? Patricia - in Beijing now - leaving for Brookfield in 2 weeks
