Does anyone know what these are for? They are located behind the rear seats down where the seatbelts attach. In my Acura, similar hook features engaged with fingers in the rear seat to hold it in place. No such thing here, they're just down there. I removed them and the fold down parts of the rear seats since I am always putting my bike in the back anyway and almost never need the rear seats for people. Figure the weighs savings could possibly help me gain a tenth or two mpg...
yup... for newer car seats so you don't need to use the seatbelts to hold it in. They make puting seats in and out much easier. You should probably replace them before you sell the car, or when your kids start having kids and want you to drive them around.
Specifically they're part of the LATCH system. LATCH and Top Tether Information for Child Safety Seat Restraints
