My entry illumination quit working on my 09 a few days after the same thing on my 08. Could I somehow deactivated it?
clarify... are you talking about the smart key function.. where the interior lights come on as you approach? are you referring to the puddle lights at the bottom of the doors? (that would be really odd) if your key fobs batteries are low, or a cell phone is in the same pocket, the smart entry light may not come on until the doors unlock. the car may not start right away either (with a cell in the same pocket)
could you be more specific? What's isn't working? (and what did it use to do?) That way, we can narrow down to the part that's malfunctioning.
Hmm... ok here's a few questions I need to ask to narrow down the problem even further 1. Does your Smart Key function work? 2. Do the lights come on when you open the door? 3. Is the Smart Key always in the same pocket as before? Did you add anything new to the pocket (specifically anything metallic like other keys or a cellphone)
get new batteries for your keyfobs... as this really does seem like the problem... lights not turning on as you approach means the car isn't reading your signal from as far away.. and is waiting because you apparently have to be right next to the car for the key to work. sooner or later, you'll realize it doesn't work at all. at that point you'll use metal key to unlock and keyfob in the dash to start (like i do because my keybob needs a new battery)
