Not only is The Closer on TNT sponsored by Toyota Gen III Prius, tonight, a Gen III Prius guest stared along with Kyra Sedgwick. The detectives wanted to follow a suspect without being noticed as police, so Kyra turns to one of the other staff and says "What kind of car do you drive?" The answer "It's a Prius. But it is brand new, and I just washed it!" said in protest to loaning the car for the police work. Then they are riding in the Pius, and Kyra gets a cell phone call. The camera pans down and pauses noticably on the Energy Flow Diagram and linger a bit befor panning down to the Incoming Blue Tooth Phone Call screen where she pushes the answer button and talks over the speaker phone. Interresting she must have taken the time to pair her phone with the borrowed car. Then, as they catch up with the suspect who is in the process of burrying a body, Kyra says she wants to go in quietly, and the other detective anounces "Thsi car has an all battery mode, so we can drive in without making a sound!". Can you say Product Placement? I knew you could.
I cringed at the "this car can run on the battery" comment. Too obvious of a product placement. Otherwise, it was good seeing the car get some more primetime.
I've never watched this show but I found the clip you described on Youtube. The Prius part starts at about the 3:30 minute mark. Yep, that was some cringe worthy product placement but nice to see it on TV either way.
