The other day I noticed there was some kind of liquid leaking right onto the gas pedal when I started the Prius the other day. What could this be? I also noticed the passenger side is SOAKED with some kind of liquid. I thought someone had spilled a drink, but now im not so sure
Most likely. Have a dealer clear the AC evaporator drain. If you normally recirculate cabin air it's helpful to sometimes pull in outside air when the humidity is low.
Most likely the evaporator coil drain is plugged, and stagnant, nasty condensation from the A/C is now spilling over into the car. Unless you want a serious case of mold, fix it pronto
Well, a *plug* could be anywhere in the drain tube. The open end of the tube sticks a tiny way out from under the car, just inside and forward of the right front wheel where most people cannot reach it without lifting the car.
Put a white paper towel on the soaked area to wick up some of the liquid. What is the fluid: water, pink coolant, or a drink? If water, then you likely have a clogged AC drain hose as stated above. If coolant, then the heater core is leaking. If a drink, then have the carpet cleaned. You should take immediate action to fix the issue. Good luck.
The liquid is brown. It is really smelling up the car. It seems to have only soaked the passenger front side of the car. I unclogged the evaporator hose (easily accessible under floor mat I found out) and also there was a clog where rain water enters near the hood. Whats the best way to reduce mold or mildew infestation?
Clean up as much as you can and dry the heck out of it with the A/C. Use recirc unless the outside humidity is low.
