Anti Theft Device

    I am concerned about the Anti Theft Device. In my 2007 Prius my icon with the red car and the key continues to blink whenever I turn the car off. The only time it stops blinking is when I am driving. This is a new feature as I have been driving the car for two years and it has never done this before. The toyota mechanic says the system is only doing what it is supposed to do. I find this hard to believe as it never did this before. Does anyone else have this problem? I think the constant blinking is a drain on the battery. Besides it is driving me nuts.

    Helen, that blinking red car has been doing that since you first bought the car. You probably never noticed it before. It's normal and lets you know that the immobilizer is active. Don't worry about it.
