OK, I finally got around to getting a rear bumper protector. The forum shop doesn't appear to sell to Canada, so while in the nearby dealer, I checked out my options. They are willing to sell me a unit from the US for "only" $250! Nice! They don't stock it, of course. I read on these forums that the Matrix unit will fit, so the parts guy and I tried that. The new Matrix has one that is just flat, costs $100, but fits. That's one option. The old Matrix has one that goes over the edge of the bumper cover, costs $50, but is too wide. I purchased that one and cut 2 3/4 inches off each end. Perfect! I used sheet metal shears to cut it. Be sure to get the 3M #70 cleaner/prep and use it to prepare the painted surface for the tape. Even before doing that, use isopropyl alcohol to clean all wax from the surface and dry thoroughly. Note that the 2010 comes with one installed (at least the car in the showroom had one). It's similar to the new Matrix one I looked at.
Could you have someone here purchase it for you and send it to Canada? Or did I miss something (sincerely)?
Are you talking about the bumper protector that the PC shop sells for $37.99? This one: Then by all means just get someone in the US to buy one and ship it to you. I have them on both of our 2009s and they fit and work great. (I added extra 3M double-sticky foam tape to make sure they stay on - so far, so good.) Edited to add: I just checked eBay and found several Toyota dealers selling these bumper protectors. You could email those sellers through eBay's "Ask Seller a question" link and see if they ship to Canada. That's what I would do.
I got mine shipped from the US, but not from the shop here... Priusaccessories maybe? I can't remember... but I wouldn't have spent $200.
Sorry guys. WAY too much work getting someone else to purchase and ship or buy from some other shop. Dealers in Canada have the Matrix one in stock for $50 (actually $47). About the same price as the US one once exchange and shipping is factored in. Just have to trim it. Looks just like the photo above, except instead of a bar pattern it has a diamond pattern.
