Got this from the AP through WTOP. How different are Japanese tests vs. EPA tests?

"The Sai gets 23 kilometers per liter, or about 54 miles per gallon, double the mileage of a comparable regular gas-engine model, according to Toyota.
"The Prius gets 38 kilometers per liter, which converts to about 90 miles per gallon under Japanese mileage-test conditions. It is promising 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway in the U.S."

    Following is some comparison.
JP 10-15 mode test US EPA test
1 start condition after warming up cold start
    2 city speed max 25mph max 56mph
    3 highway speed max 44mph max 60mph
    4 adjustment none approx -20%

The EPA number is adjusted to bring it close to a real world mpg.
The JP 10-15 mode number is a raw results.

    Yes. You're right!
Toyota SAI uses the same platform and power train as the HS250h.
    It's poor man's HS250h. :)
