I have no idea, but if you're handy, you can remove it and clean it out and it will probably work fine. It's just a rheostat with a lever arm.
If you have HID headlamps, there is a leveling adjuster on the rear axle that sometimes fails. Depending on how it fails, your headlamps point up...
Maybe that's why they pull out so easy: to facilitate cleaning out the pine needles (Doug Fir in my case) that want to turn to mulch under there.
