Hey lulz, How did you get at the license plate lights? From the outside of the vehicle or from the inside of the hatch door?
It is automatic. Just turn it on, close the hatch, and it turns off. Open the hatch again, and it turns back on.
As a side benefit, I bet you could leave led map lights on all night long without the battery draining down.
