05 with HOV stickers TOTAL LOSS, can I get replacement's for my new 09?, also whats the deal with the Touring Addition?
The Touring has some cosmetics...like different wheels, and a bigger & fin, but the reason i opted for it is that it is suppossed to have the ability to stop ten feet quicker than the traditional Prius. Read it on here somewhere, and on some othe website..possibly Consumer Reports? Have read that your mileage suffers, but over the three weeks that I have owned it, I am able to get originally 48-and now 51 mpg on a tank of gas...getting better as I read the different threads about pulse and gliding, although there are still many things that are confusing to me on the displays. Also, the touring has a stiffer suspension, and is less wavy on the road in heavy traffic or during windy days. To me, it holds the road very well and im super glad that i spent the extra for it...do some research, and see about the part for stopping ten feet sooner. I LOVE my Touring...went with Package 2 and added leather at the port...Rides very well.... I feel safe
Assuming you're talking about CA HOV stickers, the answer is no. The stickers can't be transferred to another car. The stickers go with the car, not the owner. Have you considered a used Prius with the stickers? Otherwise, with a 2009, you will be in the regular lanes with all of us little people. (My dh has stickers, I don't, so I'm very jealous)
the only disadvantage to owning a touring edition is that when the time comes to buy new tires you will not find as many choices as the base prius, and all the threads of knowledge on priuschat arguing about what tires to get for your prius will not apply to you, because they are not made in that size
Try Craigslist for a used Prius with stickers as you cannot get them for the new car. One of our members has both Touring and regular Prius and it is a slight mileage hit for the Touring.
