I purchased (I haven't picked it up yet) the latest Nav DVD ver. 11.1 from my Toyota dealer. Can anyone give me specific step by step instructions for replacing the DVD in my 08 Prius? I have never even seen my DVD player in the car but I understand it's under the drivers seat. Thanks for any help
Remove the old DVD and insert the new one. Instructions to eject the DVD are in the owner's manual. If you can't find it there, do a search here on PC.
Turn the car on, get out, open rear door. DVD unit is located under your drivers seat. locate the eject button, push it. Pull out old DVD, insert new DVD, and what ever you do, DO NOT TURN THE CAR OFF!!! Bad software installation things happen if you do! When installation is finished, make sure to select proper region. From this point, it should work like it used to. At least it worked for me!
Thanks for the replys so far. I tried to reply seperately to each but it keeps timing out. SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW in the evening I guess.
UPDATE: Today I got the DVD and started the car and popped off the dust cover and ejected the 7.1 DVD and immediately inserted the 11.1 DVD and there was nothing about selecting any proper region or anything else. I checked for map version on the screen and it shows 11.1 so I assume that all went well. My registered "Home" setting is still there on the map display. Am I missing something since you recommended selecting "proper region"?
In the MFD map setup options there is a select region map. The US is broken up into 8 or 9 regions. When I did the install, it defaulted to region 1 which is the New York area. Cal is region 9, I would have to go out to the car and check, I just got up... Get into the map setup, you will find it. My question if you travel from one region to another, will the system automatically do the map change over for you, or do you have to enter the setup and manually do it,while parked of course!
You have to manually select the new region when choosing your destination or it won't be able to find your destination address. It's easy to do and remains in the new region until you choose otherwise. Tom
Hmmm, I guess I am misunderstanding the registering thing. The GPS has your position at your current location showing on the display. The only thing I see about changing maps is if you want to search another area to set a destination. Do I have that right? BTW on the 11.1 disc there are 12 locations/areas.
You don't have to register anything, just select the region you live in, your CA, which I believe is area 9? When I upgraded mine, it didn't even look at GPS, it just set my home region to NY, region 1! Simple reset to CA, all works fine!
Ahhh, I see. Evidently my upgrade worked differently than yours since my area came up on the map immediately. Home is still registered and previous destinations were all preserved. Thanks for the input.
