So in the '08 green car just touching 300k I've been chasing a light what I thought was a light spark knock when you step on the gas not really smartly but not lightly. Sounds like a hand hammered wok factory In my bottom end. So I pulled the plugs check them they were my standard SK16U11 they came with the car I changed them to my go to SK20U 11s The 16s look like 50,000 mi plugs and they were $58,000 mi actually old light gray brown deposits nothing wet none of them. So I put in the '20s still had the spark knock tried different fuel playing around whatever everything with the fuel seems good I'm getting the fuel that's just not igniting properly or what have you so against my better judgment after this hadn't worked before in another situation I ordered a set of injectors supposedly factory rebuilt flowed benched whatever they do to these things. When I received them they look brand new If these aren't new I don't know how they get them this clean and looking new I mean even the plastic is the correct color green with the Toyota number I sent a link to somebody yesterday here because they wanted to buy some. I put those in go for a drive the spark knock is gone The injectors I took out the pintle end or the squirting end looked pretty dirty on pretty much all of them. My 170 something code for the downstream O2 sensor is back which I expected it would come back. But the car runs good now when I take my foot off the gas at random times it sounds like the engine is spark knocking really bad or about to die like it's running out of gas of course the gas is full I'm sitting at 54.7 mi to the gallon with 140 mi on the car and the car runs great no lights on nothing I don't see anything in the freeze frame data and like just a minute ago I pulled out into a turning lane and took my foot off the gas and the car started If I would have been standing in front of the engine with the hood up by the scene it do the dance like the Gen 3 does without the noise I have no reason to believe that the fuel injectors are leaking or doing anything weird fuel pressure seemed good when I lifted the rail up while it was under pressure fuel squirted smartly right under the wells of the intake manifold in between the bolts fill them right up watched it that seems adequate. So I guess I need to get the check in the transmission fluid in this thing I see where somebody just recently basically took out their system by not having any transmission fluid or very low or something I have not fooled with this transmission since I bought the car this afternoon we fixing to drain it and have a look. By the plugs looking like they did I just assumed head gasket was pretty much ruled out and water hasn't been checked in this car in months until just a second ago and she slammed full to the filler neck and the jug is 3/4 full everything seems reasonable this car is never had any leaks or anything It was just owned by low quality folks the best way I can describe it.
And if you're getting a p code for your lower oxygen sensor being too rich any bucking or weird sensations while driving you're feeling after the corrections are being made by the system or is the bucking in the carrying on from being too rich and the change hasn't been made yet. This code came on very rarely before the injector change The injector change cleared up the spark knock but now my I think it's PO172 code is back and it comes back within 40 minutes of clearing it that is the downstream sensor is too rich I believe so I'm guessing the fresh injectors sure enough put the sensor to rest as it was just barely coming on sometimes before original sensors by the way. So I'm going to try change the sensor and see what happens I don't believe that the injectors are dripping or leaking gas Not sure why I believe that The fuel trims don't look ridiculous and the car does run with it when I take my foot off the gas sometimes it feels like a downshifted to 4th gear from this and like there's a misfire going on but there isn't or if there is the car is not picking it up and it's not even hidden in history or pending or anything All I have is the rich O2 sensor.
