When all said and done i want to be able to walk away from my (gen ii) 09 prius and have the doors lock. What i was thinking is i would wire up a proximity meter that would scan for my key (there is one already installed if i could use that) and lock the doors when my key is not in range. this would be really helpfull for me and it would be a really cool feature
I'm sure it can be done but, I'm no help on how to do it. There are some really smart people here that could help you. Your challenge is to get them to want to help.
I think you would either have to rewrite code to smart key ecu or redo the whole system. At the stock form system only checks if key is present when it’s needed.
this is a great idea, and i think many here will take advantage of it when you finish and complete a write up with pics. thank you for taking the reigns on this, all the best!
There should be a "Passive Mode" already programed for the security system. It's just turned off. It'll lock the doors 30sec. after the doors are closed and IG off even if the doors aren't locked by door key or wireless operation.
lol, I had a customer want me to turn it on for his Tundra. He returned the following week and told me to turn it back off.
