I own a 2011 Prius Gen 3, with 100k+ miles. At the 100k servicing, I spoke with the Service manager. He says that he commonly sees Priuii with 200k and 300k+. 100K is not a big deal. Brakes may wear-out. Case seals go and need to be replaced, but the power train is solid. Do not sell or trade the vehicle. To me, the body is all plastic. Plastic ages. Wheel wells have popped loose. Rubber grommets that hold body panels together have aged and let go. I have drilled holes in body panels and zip-tied them together. Which seems a little DIY and redneck. Yesterday, the 100k servicing, says that soon it will need: Rear pads and rotors - $357 Front timing cover and reseal - $1651 So at the next serving, it will need $2,200+ Do we keep it another 100k? or do we trade in for a new model?
Well you got 150k mile warranty...most if us have not had that major service you unfort incurred there...winter salt?
Timing seal? Brakes at 100k? I call bu))s&it. Besides even if you didn't need brakes I could get all four done at Just Brakes for less than that. I got a bridge to sell you if u believe them....
i say dump it as soon as you can get your hands on a gen four. sounds like it's going to nickel and dime you to death. and that's a lot of nickels!
I had a 2nd get for 200k miles. I put new brakes at 180k. I held the throttle wide open and pulled a trailer occasionally. I mean wide open. It was a daily ritual. This car was amazing. All it even needed was tires and cvt fluid change, spark plugs, and one air filter, and brakes once at 180k. Oh and an inverter coolant pump under recall.
