Well, I saw no mention of how these cars were ranked for the list. The writer probably just thought of Hyundai after Ford.
there is a break even point. while no one can predict the future price of energy, it makes sense to do some back of the napkin math based on your projected use.
Weird to substitute Highlander for RAV4HV...I could maybe see Sienna as the "best" eco choice for HOT-3+ van pool commuter
unfortunately, you can't actually buy any of these cars at the prices listed. so until (if) inventory increases, you can only do your math based on the price of what's available.
They also left off the humble 2023 KIA Niro Hybrid which will easily average 50 mpg and has a starting MSRP of $26,840 for the base model. I do understand them not listing it, it is certainly not a vehicle that jumps out at you. Had a chance to see a KIA Sportage Hybrid up close in the showroom a few months ago - very impressive specs for the price. They did list that vehicle
