Anyone have recommendations for connecting stuff to the battery? Not sure if it has side post threads - or a good way to make multiple connections... I'm adding a 1500W inverter (4 awg wire), a sub (8 awg), and some ancillary stuff (12 awg)... Pics would also be great! TIA
I've got a 1,500 watt pure sine in the trunk, but I believe the battery can only handle about 1,000 watts so I put in a breaker that's underrated relative to the rest of the system. I found Anderson PowerPole connectors satisfactory for connections.
Thanks - I've seen the posts - but now that I'm installing, I don't get the part where we connect to the battery - what parts are used and how. I'm thinking of at least 3 large things connecting aftermarket - and just wondering the logistics...
* Where in the car do you want them to be? * Will they come and go or will they be installed and stay there? I got my plug from powerwerx.com. Specifically I went with two of the 175 amp Powerpole plugs. One plug is wired directly to the battery with 4 gauge multi strand copper wire and goes through a hole into the upper trunk. When not in service it just lays in there with a dust cover on it. When in use, it plugs into a matching fitting that leads into the inverter. When not in use it is unplugged because it turns out my inverter always has a slight draw. The fittings are polarized and it is not possible to plug them together backwards. I'm wondering if the "Chassis Mount"fittings might be right for you, but am a little vague on your exact setup.
