Just found out the main 12 volt supply cable from rear to front is aluminium. This does not bode well for vehicles that are used on salted roads. This could also help explain why the MFD voltage readings are sometimes lower than readings taken at the battery with a DVM. I know aluminium is a good conductor, but not as good as cooper. The difficulty is often however with the crimp on end terminals corroding inside between the cable and the crimp. However a new poster has had other problems, see:- 07 wont start with out jumping from under the hood(has new 12v battery) John (Britprius)
