The 2010 Prius 12 volt console power port has a 120W sustained power limit and it is protected by a 15amp fuse which suggest that 180W should be its peak power limit. Does anyone have a suggestion for a 12V power port to 120VAC inverter which would protect the Prius 12V power port from blowing out a fuse? The reason I'm posting this inquiry is that most of the low power 12vdc/120vac inverter that I've seen sofar have a peak power of over 200W (which would not protect the Prius from blowing a fuse)[1] Thanks Walter Lee [1] The following is an example of 12vdc to 12ovac power adapters inverters. in all cases the peak power is over 200 watts which would not protect the Prius 15 amp fuse from blowing out... Depending on your application you could add a 12v socket with heavier wire and the correct fuse in the back cargo area at the battery. It would look like what I did but you would use a higher wattage socket. My requirement was a 12v hot socket, no key needed. Original post.
