So I was starting up while out and the mfd is blank, no heater-air, radio or phone, 5000 miles, called the dealer and they saY no loaner while it's fixed because its drivable, I digress, no air, if it rains and fogs up I crash, who ya gonna call???
ToyotaCare covers a loaner if it takes more than a day to repair. It is not safely driveable without climate control IMO.
Does the front defogger switch next to the display work? If not, see: “Windshield defrosting and defogging systems,” FMVSS No. 103 (49 C.F.R. § 571.103) “Windshield Wipers and Defrosters,” N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 266:56 Policy 5.18, “Toyota Transportation Assistance Policy,” Toyota Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual (available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com)
Thank all ya'all, called corporate, was told that some dealers have loaners, I should ask for a loaner, an opinion. I was asking for a decision about my having to drive a car that is dangerous in certain weather conditions, no answer, just a punt, argh, the beginning of the benign
here is Toyota's official policy. If my vehicle requires a warranty repair, will Toyota provide me with a loaner vehicle?
Aha, using the small mfd I'm able to adjust the fan speed and temperature, so the car will have a heater and blower, not sure about a/c, the heater was off when the screen died, but I'm able to turn the heater on, ahh, driving in NH without the defroster would garner me a ticket if I were on the side of the road with a fogged windshield, the police person would cite me, that was my problem, now I want my navy and phone back Thanks for the excellent articles
Very typical corporate response. sigh Good luck and keep us posted. Thank you. This is very useful information, which many of dealers are conveniently ignorant.
