17 Prius, Occasionally won't shift from R to D

    I have a 17 Prius, that occasionally won't shift from R to D, maybe 1 out of 50 times. If I am backing up, I go as far as I want and then shift to D. I hit the gas and the car continues to back up. This could be dangerous in certain situations. If this happens, I shift it again to D and it works.

    To prevent this, I try to look at the indicator on the dashboard to make sure it is in D.
    Has anyone else had this problem ?

    not that i recallreading. could it be that you are too casual in your shifting and not going all the way, or holding it long enough?
