I found two places the Toyota Dealer or some local shop Auto Lube here in El Paso. I am doing synthetic. Normally the Toyota dealer is $20 more expensive but my first normal oil change is free so they will knock $15 off the price.

    1. Do you think it would matter whether or not I go to the dealer?

    2. Also I think they only offer 5w30, 5w20, or 10w30 around here, no 0w30. Would the 5w30 be OK or does it have to be 0w30?

    3. Also Toyota uses their Toyota brand filter. Is this comparable to Penzoil filters?

    Thanks

Toyota spec oil weight is 5w30. It cannot hurt to go to another place to get your oil changed. But no matter if you go to a Toyota dealer or a third party, be sure to retain all receipts of oil changes or oil change materials, should you do it yourself.

It doesn't hurt to have the dealer do the work. If you want a specific oil type, such as synthetic, or filter bring it with you and insist that they use it.

Do not use any oil heavier than 5w30.
