I had a question, maybe it has already been asked, I haven't checked, sorry. if I have 2 hybrid batterys and to have more autonomy, I thought (perhaps it's a stupid idea) to put them in parallel to have more autonomy and consume less... a hv battery connected to the car and the other connected in parallel to the first battery. is there a risk for the car? because I read that toyota only controls the voltage and not the amperage? Thanks a lot
Please do. Summary: The electronic system that controls the battery usage expects to see only ONE battery. Doing what you propose would change how the new battery "looks" to the control system.......and would not work. Not good at least.
you would have to rewrite some software, amongst other technical challenges. it has been asked, but hasn't been done. other similars have been done back in the day by very bright people
I think I have read old posts of people trying that years ago on the Gen2 and not getting any significant improvements. Those who developed the "plug in" Gen2 kits used a (much) bigger battery and did some tom foolery to get the system to run EV only. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
