I'm trying to figure this out, and am hoping I just stumbled on a great deal, and not that there's something more behind the scenes. Came across a 2005 BC Package Prius in the paper advertised at $15,860. Went to check it out and it was a mess (they never had it cleaned or detailed.. stains inside, scratches outside, etc). I told them to get it detailed, get it certified, and I'd be back to check it out. Cosmetics aside, everything else was fine. Drives fine as well. Carfax history comes up clean. At the time, I hadn't done a lot of research on Prius prices, and was ready to go in tomorrow not budging from a $14,500 price point, but after research, I now am wondering if even the original offering is underpriced... I don't want to go in sounding uneducated by shooting too low -- and this dealer is huge, so I can't imagine that they don't know market value of this vehicle.. Is there something I should be on the lookout for to help me understand why this is seemingly underpriced? (Kelly's Blue Book specs out to $22,000). I got an appointment with them tomorrow, and the dealer said the vehicle came out of the detailing "looking great".. so fingers crossed on that. Thoughts?
