My wife and I are leaving soon on a coast to coast trip on our new Prius. I wanted to get the 3M clear protection for the front, but she's adamant on getting a front bra cover. Since she's the one with the hand on the purse, so to speak, we're getting a front bra cover. I went to the Toyota dealership today and they told me they didn't make a front bra cover for the 2008 model, but they do have it for the 2005. I thought there would be no difference between the 2005 and 2008 Prius, and the guy behind the counter wasn't sure, but he told me I cannot return it if I buy the wrong item. So, I am asking here, is there any difference between the front end of a 2005 and that of a 2008 Prius? Will the 2005 cover fit? My guess is that, yes it wil fit, as I see no discernible difference, but I might be wrong...
according to colgan custom, the maker of thier prius bra, the 2005 and 2008 cars have the same part number, so that implies that the bra hasn't changed much... i thought it would not fit, because i thought the 2007 and newer prius cars have that metal dam thing under the front bumper that the bra clips on to, i thought this was not on the 2006 model, i thought i read sometwhere that is why that toyota stopped making bras for 2007 and newer cars i hear the 2006 toyota bra isnt an exact fit for the 2007-2008s
Rigormortis is on target regarding the air dam, though I think it was added in 2006. I have seen reports of folks that have made the Toyota bra fit, but not without a great deal of tugging and fussing. Mine is pretty snug as it is; I can't imagine trying to stretch it out any more on the bottom. You might do a good search to try to find those threads. It's inexplicable to me that Toyota hasn't come out with one specifically for the later model years.
Yeah, Toyota has the part number for the 2005 model, but not for 2006 and later, so that air dam was probably added in 2006. Oh well, too bad.
