Hello all! I just purchased a used 2005 Prius with 176k. It is in excellent cosmetic condition, and the hybrid battery was replaced at 100k. Runs and drives great. Just recently I was driving at night and both headlights flickered together. I do have HIDs and I know there are a plethora of common problems with them. I would just replace the bulbs, but that seems illogical to me because they flicker exactly TOGETHER. They don't go out and require me to turn the switch off and on. They just flicker together. Mostly when I go over bumps, but a couple times on their own. To me this seems like a loose connection. But I'm not sure where to look for a connector that would affect both headlights together. I have searched the forums but have not seen any threads of my type of problem.
Hello and welcome to Prius Chat. While I'm no electrical engineer, your analysis sounds reasonable -perhaps from a poor ground connection. I don't know if @Mendel Leisk @bisco or @bwilson4web can advise you further
I don't have a gen 2 with the HIDs, just have the reliable halogen bulbs. Most of the problems with the HIDs are the bulb going out completely, not flickering.....
