Hello all! Went to Toyota for regular service. Received a phone call said "there's electrical problem on ABS system and it needs to be replaced, costs $2700. Out of warranty for 11000 miles. It only covers 36000." Any idea, please?
What warning lights (if any) were present when you took your car for service? You might ask what DTC (diagnostic trouble code) was logged by your car, and what parts will be replaced. Then we can comment.
Thanks for quick reply. I hope I could have certain codes. I reported certain noise which occurs when I move my foor from full brakes. Toyota service told me electric problem on ABS system and needs to be replaced for $2700. Do you have any way to check by myself?
I suggest you ask the service writer exactly what part is being replaced. If the only problem is a noise, is that a squeaking noise? See this string: http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-.../29211-tsb-br001-07-brake-actuator-noise.html Note that there is no impairment to the braking system, so if that is your problem I recommend you learn to live with the noise, rather than pay $2.7K to repair. If your car does not show any warning lights, then it is not likely that any DTC have been logged.
