Hi everyone! I have a 2005 Prius and the AC isn’t blowing cold air. It turns on but it blows hot air. The friend who gave it to me has a dad who would charge the AC whenever it wasn’t cold and the dealership said that’s part of the problem. They quoted me $5,000 so I’m trying to avoid paying all that haha does anyone know what it could be and if I would be able to fix it myself? I live in a hot area so this summer is killer without AC. Thanks!

prius a/c is high voltage electric. it requires special consideration when repairing or maintaining.

search the a/c threads here for advice/solutions, and look around for an a/c shop that understands hybrids.

Hey there. I just recharged mine for about $35 with a can from autozone. My car barely made cold air out of one vent only. Now I have A/C again. Worth trying, if the system runs but is blowing ambient air around!
