Ive got a 2006 2nd gen prius with 170K miles and it recently started a bit of odd behavior.... sometimes when I start it the dashboard screen is blank (dark) and the video screen wont display mileage but says "current" where the gas mileage at the moment is normally. when this happens when I attempt to turn off the car the key wont come out. I usually have to go back and forth a few feet each way then the car turns off and the key will come out. this usually happens a few times then the car goes completely back to normal...any wisdom as to what is going on?
welcome! start with the 12v health. if that's not it, maybe a bad combo meter. or, you might have a bad parking sensor or pawl, which isn't telling the car you are in park.
