The competitor hybrid Toyota Prius was second with 60 mpg in the city and 51 on the highway, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy said Wednesday. I believe some diesels aren't allowed in some states (CA, MA, ??) because they don't meet emission standards in those states...
