I pulled over and that warning went off and then the check engine light came on. any help is appreciated
+1 inverter cooling pump. Check its operation by reviewing this page with a good video: Luscious Garage | Blog | Prius Code P0A93: Inverter Water Pump Failure
well like a dumb a** i realized its the temperature gauge telling me its overheating... I was not in the car and was sent a picture of the image, not realizing what it was, had to turn my picture sideways to realize its the temp warning light... so the car is about a mile from a stealership and will be taking the car there, if i remember right the inverter fluid looked low, not knowing a dang thing about the car, i didnt think about adding anything to it as i was not sure where it was supposed to be at(didnt see the full line) anyways, would the inverter being low cause the car to overheat on the freeway?
okay, if the engine has overheated, the usual cause is lack of coolant in the radiator, due to a failed engine water pump. That's about a $350+ repair, $100 for the part, $40 for coolant, and 2 hours of labor. This is different from the inverter cooling loop, but they should replace that pump as well under the recall.
If it is the inverter pump, would the overheat light show up on the main screen? Or would it show up on the dash, or both? I think i read somewhere that if its the inverter, it shows up on the screen but first a red triangle shows up and beeps at you and tells you a problem has occurred and then the overheat light shows up in the left corner on the main screen...
well, put some much needed sllc in and it went away, it was low in both inverter and in the radiator. So lesson learned, lol hopefully this doesnt happen again.
